In the following module, you will be introduced to the topic of glacial retreat. After a brief introduction you will learn more about the global glaciers.
The purpose of this exercise is a) a homework assignment and b) testing a prototype of educational modules. The exercise will take roughly 40 minutes. It is highly recommended that you set aside enough time to complete the assignment in one session. First, you will be asked a few socio-demographic questions. Then you will be presented with several short sections of reading materials. The exercise concludes with a questionnaire and an evaluation of the module. You will not be able to go back to the readings once you have moved on to the questionnaire. So please read the materials carefully, as there are a few questions that relate directly to the readings.
There are no foreseeable risks or discomforts to participants. You will benefit from participation by learning something about environmental change.
We guarantee confidentiality of all data. All results will be presented only in aggregated form. Your professor will be able to see if you completed the task by comparing logged user IDs with the class roster. After you log in your file will receive a randomly selected subject number, which cannot be linked back to your user ID, neither can questionnaire data be linked to user IDs.
Participation is voluntary, to the extent that, if you wish to withdraw we will make an alternative homework assignment available.
